Day Six - Last Leg of the Drive to Anaheim

Hellooooooooo!

Phew! Just made it to our hotel in Anaheim. (Our Hotel's just opposite Disneyland).
It’s about 11.00pm so we’re all pretty knackered. We just passed through Ventura, Santa Barbara (or as Kate and I like to call it, Santa BABEra) and Calabasas (where lots of celebs live).

There was a suspicious smell as we drove into LA.. perhaps some people’s 420 celebrations are still going on.

This morning I went for a beaut run along the beach in Cayucos. It was perfs weather and the waves were rolling in (they were nice big-ish ones!).

A cool bird-lookin' flower I came across:

(According to Dad, this is a bird of paradise)

We had breakfast at the motel. Porridge, cereals, toast (they had JIF peanut butter), pastries, tea, coffee and hot chocolate were provided. Excellent variety I feel.
Soon after that we were all packed up and ready to go.
Firstly, we stocked up on snacks at the store next door:

We headed back up the way we had come because we (I) wanted to visit the Hearst Castle. We totally visited the castle. And these are totally legit photos I took of the actual castle and not of postcards in the visitor centre:

Ok, soooo the wait for the shuttle was too long and we decided the tour would take up too much valuable drive time.We feel we got the full castle experience though; you could look at the castle through telescopes, same diff.

Even better pictures were our family selfies at the telescopes:

(Mum's #NinaPose)

Back on the road we were again, heading south.
A couple of hours into the drive, we went to Pismo Beach where there were outlets galore.
Our haul:

  • Mum: a pair of Nike Frees and a pair of Nike Scuffs
  • Kate: two pairs of Vans, two Vans t-shirts and some Nike socks
  • Dad: a pair of Levi's 505s
  • Jack: a HotTopic Superman t-shirt for Max
  • Madeleine: a pair of Nike Frees, a Levi's coat, Levi's jersey, Levi's dress and Levi's shirt.
#BigSummerBlowout !

Had some lunch there at a cafe and at McDonalds.

We continued our drive and the next stop was Santa Barbara for dinner at Taco Bell.

This was enjoyed by everyone and Kate was happy as she got to try the Taco Bell-exclusive Baja Blast Mountain Dew.

However, there was a tragedy in this scene.
Mum shut the car door while Kate's hand was resting there and Kate's fingers got squished.
Mum sprinted back over to Taco Bell to get some ice and soon Kate's hand was on its way to being a happy hand once again.
Drama.

A few pics from the rest of the drive to Anaheim:

We passed a cool carnival:

There was such a thing as Santa Claus Lane:

The boys went for a late night swim in the hotel's pool:

Aaaand now we're all ready for sleepy byes.
Got a big, super fun day ahead at Disneyland!!

I'll give all the awesome deets about that tomorrow.

Night!
